With general elections due to be called before late May 2018, the election bell has been rung close to the wire, and the race is off.
Today, 26 April 2018, the Prime Minister of Barbados has called the 2018 general election. It is now day 50 into the 90-day grace period after the dissolution of parliament on 6th March 2018.
In keeping with his last call for elections in Barbados in 2013, Prime Minister Freundel Stuart call elections via the Barbados Government Information Service (BGIS) platform, which has never been the case with other prime ministers.
The silly season is now fully upon us with nomination day scheduled for Monday, 7 May and general elections a mere 17 days later.
The 2018 elections in Barbados will be held on Thursday, 24 May 2018.
