Introduction
Grace and peace be unto you!
In an attempt to disseminate evidence based information to Barbadians and by extension our wider world towards improving the HIV/AIDS situation, I have decided to take the findings of a research paper to you as a part of mankind. Thus we have the family life seminar - Plain Plain Talk on Sex. A major part of it has already been submitted to several Pastoral friends and the assembly which I pastor as (An Anatomical Overview of the Report on the Legal, Ethical and Socio-Economic Issues Relevant to HIV/AIDS in Barbados).
Therefore the objective is to give a divine perspective on the issue and thereby help prevent and not to reinvent the HIV/AIDS information wheel, but to increase the level of the anatomical knowledge by 50% as a result of the period of time you have set as a goal to read this book and at the same time increasing personal responsibility for the management of STIs in your nation.
A brief history of HIV/AIDS shows that AIDS was first reported in 1981 by investigators in New York and California. Initially most cases of AIDS in the United States were diagnosed in homosexual men, who contracted the virus primarily through sexual contact, and in intravenous drug users, who became infected mainly by sharing contaminated hypodermic needles. In 1983 French and American researchers isolated the causative agent, HIV, and by 1985 serological tests to detect the virus had been developed.
HIV/AIDS spread to epidemic proportions in the 1980s, particularly in Africa, where the disease may have originated. Spread was likely facilitated by several factors, including increasing urbanization and long-distance travel in Africa, international travel, changing sexual mores, and intravenous drug use. By 2002 AIDS had claimed more than 25 million lives worldwide. Approximately 40 million people throughout the world were infected with HIV. People living in sub-Saharan Africa accounted for more than 70 percent of all infections, and in some countries of the region the prevalence of HIV infection of inhabitants exceeded 10 percent of the population.
Rates of infection were lower in other parts of the world, but the epidemic was spreading rapidly in Eastern Europe, India, South and Southeast Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean. In the United States the incidence of HIV/AIDS had stabilized at about 40,000 new infections per year. One-third of all new cases were women, for whom the primary risk factor was heterosexual intercourse. In China the government estimated that up to 850,000 people had contracted HIV by 2000 more than half of them having acquired the virus since 1997. (Encyclopaedia Britannica 2005 Deluxe)
A Biblical Overview of what God said about Himself In addition, He is not caused. See Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Thus He created and owned or more simply put He has the copy rights to all matters of heaven and earth. Therefore God has a direct say on how all things are to operate on earth including mans sexuality.
Isa 45:5-11
5 I am the LORD, and there is no other; There is no God besides Me. I will gird you, though you have not known Me,
6 That they may know from the rising of the sun to its setting That there is none besides Me. I am the LORD, and there is no other;
7 I form the light and create darkness, I make peace and create calamity; I, the LORD, do all these things.'
8 "Rain down, you heavens, from above, And let the skies pour down righteousness; Let the earth open, let them bring forth salvation, And let righteousness spring up together. I, the LORD, have created it.
9 "Woe to him who strives with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth! Shall the clay say to him who forms it, 'What are you making' Or shall your handiwork say, 'He has no hands'

11 Thus says the LORD, The Holy One of Israel, and his Maker: "Ask Me of things to come concerning My sons; And concerning the work of My hands, you command Me.
The name Elohim, however, contains the idea of creative and governing power, of omnipotence and sovereignty. This is clearly indicated by the fact that from Genesis 1:1 to 2:4 the word Elohim alone is used. It is the Elohim who by His mighty power creates the vast universe; who says, and it is done; who brings into being what was not (Heb 11:3). (Stone pg 12)
We need to understand that the purpose of sex is fourfold:
Pleasure (Ge 2:18; 23-25; 1Co7: 3-5)
Procreation (Ge 1:28; 5:3)
Spiritual Purity for widows who cannot exercise self control by containing themselves, but rather burn with passion, then marry (1Co 7: 8, 9
8 But I say to the unmarried and to the widows: It is good for them if they remain even as I am;
9 but if they cannot exercise self-control, let them marry. For it is better to marry than to burn with passion.)
A symbol of our unity in Christ (Eph 5:31-33
31 "For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.
32 "This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
33 Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.)
The marriage union is the only way man and woman can truly enjoy the riches God has planned for them. Because the relationship is specifically designed to illustrate Gods unending love for His people, sexual intercourse must be experienced in the context of a permanent, giving commitment (1Co7: 39). Man is the only creature of Gods creation who relates sexually face to face.

Understanding this text (Rom 1:27-32) for our time it is important to know that human genitalia and sexuality is God given and God defined. It was a part of the very good design. Mans sexuality was also part of the very good work. Ge 1: 31 Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day. God Himself designated man to be procreative from his compliment Ge 1:27, 28 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds
of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.
This fact is demonstrated in Gen 4:1 Now Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain, and said, "I have acquired a man from the LORD. She conceived tells me that or means (pregnant:--(be, woman) with child from its root word a progenitor.) Note the one who became pregnant-the she and not the he. "Be fruitful (that is to bear fruit (literally or figuratively):--bear, bring forth (fruit), (be, cause to be, make) grow, increase.) This is a biologically related ancestor or
a person that originates something or serves as a model). Adam and Eve acknowledged God as the source in the process of producing a child. Sexual intercourse in the original design was/is nothing shameful as in the case of sin. Sex was/is between male and female.
Good Sex begins with a clean heart
Total body health is a sign of good health which aids health sex. God requires that we should prosper and be in health 3Jo 1:1-2 THE ELDER, To the beloved Gaius, whom I love in truth: 2 Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. Above all things next after a life in harmony with Gods purpose, may you see it in your environment working for you. I know you are
prospering in the concerns of your soul. I wish you similar prosperity in your body. (Jamieson-Fauset-Brown Commentary, Power Bible CD) John was praying for the alignment of Gaius's prosperity in general and good health in particular.
Prosperity is directly linked to truth This concept is established when we get to matters of the body defence system through the CD4 cells and the way in which the HIV virus mutates itself.
What sex is not
Sex is not buggery, which is the carnal knowledge and sexual relation between two male persons.It is not lesbianism, that is, female persons who share sexual relations with each other as though in a man-woman copulative relationship. Buggery, in particular, is the use of two incompatible organs, that of the sexual (penis) and digestive (anus).
The anus is the opening of the lower extremity of the alimentary canal
God created and united Adam and Eve (the 1st Marriage) The comparable help, meet for Adam, was the woman. The woman is the female, the complementing companion to the male without an implanted womb. Bed means kaite in the Greek (the original language of the New Testament). This means cohabitation by implanting the male sperm, which is acceptable in marriage (Strongs Concordance)
Condom use and certain protection
I must insert here that I went in search of some condoms facts. I examined packages of condoms Erotica by name was the first and it said, Each Contempo Condom is individually electronically tested for reliability and safety to meet U.S. standards. For maximum protection, carefully follow the usage instructions inside this package. If used properly, latex condoms will help reduce the risk of
transmission of HIV infection (AIDS) and many other sexually transmitted diseases. Although no contraceptive or pro-phy-lac-tic can guarantee 100%
effectiveness, Contempo condoms, when properly used, reduce the risk of pregnancy and the spread of sexually transmitted diseases. Condoms are primarily intended for the use in vaginal intercourse; other uses can increase the potential for breakage. Prime, Extra Strength, Rough Rider and Erotim had similar readings. What is this saying to us If it is not for vaginal intercourse,
then, do not use this product.
Anal intercourse is actually introducing the onset of the destruction of the digestive system of the man or woman who practices it. In several articles in my search for anal pathology, the look at the anus brought to my attention that it is a digestive organ The human digestive tract. Britannica) Man was not born disposed to homosexuality
The term homosexuality was coined in the 1860s and from then onwards homosexuals were increasingly regarded as being a separate type of people having a particular sexual aberration Use of the term lesbian dates from a slightly later time. (Gittens, pg 196) Evidence points to homosexuality as being a matter of individual choice.
The man-woman as created by God; the expected norm
Spousal affection is the expected norm of marriage 1Co 7:3-5 1Co 7:3 Let the husband render to his wife the affection due her, and likewise also the wife to her husband. 4 The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. And likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. 5 Do not deprive one another except with consent for a time, that you
may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again so that Satan does not tempt you because of your lack of self-control. Affection/benevolence in the passage informs us of kindness; conjugal duty:--benevolence, good will and the conjugal cohabitation due by the marriage contract. (Strongs Concordance & Jameison-Faussett-Brown Commentary)
People are not born gay. Camille Paglia, a lesbian activist has had the courage to boldly state that most homosexuals refuse to admit; Homosexuality is not normal. On the contrary, it is a challenge to the norm. Nature exists whether academics like it or not. And in nature, procreation is the single relentless rule. That is the norm. Our sexual bodies were designed for reproduction. No one is born gay.
The idea is ridiculous. Homosexuality is an adaptation, not an inborn trait Homosexual activists, of course, claim that their behavior is normal and thats why the American Psychiatric Association (APA) removed homosexuality as a Gender Identity Disorder in 1973.
What they fail to admit, however, is that homosexual activists literally terrorized the APA into removing homosexuality as a disorder. Homosexual scientist Simon LeVay admits this. He notes: Gay activism was clearly the force that propelled the APA to declassify homosexuality.
Instruments of the moral struggle
Let us move on to the innocent brainless instruments that we have introduced in/of the struggle of immorality. These instruments are; the mouth, the penis, the vagina and the anus. During sexual intercourse, under normal husband and wife relations, the vagina welcomes the penis as a pleasurable and compatible tool for the task. I quote, Internally, it contains two small corpora cavernosa which cause it to enlarge and stiffen during sexual excitation. It is amply endowed with touch sensitive nerve endings Controlling/working with the urges To understand the control dimension, we need to take a closer look at the nervous system. Here is the burden of proof that we can master our system, rather than our system mastering us. The nervous system consists of the central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system Sexual response involves the entire nervous system. The autonomic system controls the involuntary responses; the afferent cerebrospinal nerves carry the sensory messages to the brain; the efferent cerebrospinal nerves carry commands from the brain to the muscles; and the spinal cord serves as a great transmission cable. The brain itself is the coordinating and controlling centre, interpreting what sensations are to be perceived as sexual and issuing appropriate "orders" to the rest of the nervous system. The parts of the brain thought to be most concerned with sexual
response are the hypothalamus and the limbic system, but no specialized "sex centre" has been located in the human brain.
Sex contrary to Scripture
Exposure to an STD can occur anytime a person has sex or close contact that involves the genitals, the mouth, or the rectum with another person, but exposure is more likely if a person has many sex partners or does not use condoms. STDs can be prevented by not having sexual contact (abstinence). (McIlhaney pg 522)
Examining prostitution Biblically
Prostitution comes along with the detestable package of immorality. Gods covenant rejects this lifestyle in the human experience.
Le 19:29 Do not prostitute your daughter, to cause her to be a harlot, lest the land fall into harlotry, and the land become full of wickedness. Is certainly was and is not a lifestyle to adopt.
Pr 6:23-26; Pr 29:3; Lu 15:13;
1Co 6:15-18 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a harlot Certainly not! 16 Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her For "the two," He says, "shall become one flesh." 17 But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him. 18 Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside
the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own
body.
In this 1Co 6 text - sins against his own body The fornicator takes his body which belongs to Christ and unites it with a harlot. In fornication the body is the instrument of sin and becomes the subject of the damage wrought. In another sense fornication brings on one's own body the two most terrible bodily diseases that are still incurable (gonorrhea and syphilis) that curse one's own body and
transmit the curse to the third and fourth generation. Apart from the high view given here by Paul of the relation of the body to the Lord no possible father or mother has the right to lay the hand of such terrible diseases and disaster on their children and children's children. The moral and physical rottenness wrought by immorality defy one's imagination. (Robertson NT Word Picture Commentary)
Buggery disturbs the absorption and digestive process and design in man
Let us check the evidence. The intestinal wall (small and large) is composed of four layers: mucosa, submucosa, the muscularis, and the serosa Fingerlike folds of the mucosa, called villi, project into the lumen of the interior of the intestines and increase the absorption surface by approximately 600-fold. (Bullock et.al. pg 484)
It also disturbs electrolytes absorption. I quote - most of the sodium (salt) is absorbed in the jejunum (part of the small intestines) with less being absorbed in the ileum and the colon. (Ibid pg 493)
The act of buggery is telling me that one is making colon deposits with each act, inclusive of oils smeared as built on condoms to seminal deposits and other dangerous bacteria directly from the penis. Note that in the vagina, under normal heterosexual coitus, this process is self cleaning for the potential of impregnating the woman. Buggery on the other hand makes the particular person/s a prime
candidate for severe ill-health. This process we will see a little
later.

A new, highly drug resistant strain of the HIV virus
A new, highly drug resistant strain of the HIV virus has been detected in a man in New York. Health experts say the strain is difficult or impossible to treat. At the moment this is an isolated case.
An HIV patient who failed to use anti-retroviral drugs and showed signs of AIDS just a few months after it was believed he was infected. The average time lag is at least a decade and New York health officials are concerned. The patient who has not been identified is in his mid-forties and a member of New Yorks gay community. He's had unprotected sex with several male partners while taking a drug known as crystalmetanphetamine (StarcomNetwork"starcomnews, Sun, 13 Feb 2005)
Secondly, another alert has emerged in the UK. A sexually transmitted infection that, before now, has mainly been seen in the developing world is spreading in the UK and Western Europe, experts say. London is among a number of major cities that have reported outbreaks of lymphogranuloma venereum (LGV). The 24 cases confirmed in England have been in gay men, but both sexes can contract LGV through unprotected sex. Its symptoms include genital ulcers and swelling in the groin, but it can be treated using antimicrobial agents. In recent months, outbreaks of LGV have been reported in the cities of Rotterdam, Antwerp, Paris, Stockholm and Hamburg "LGV was previously hardly ever seen in the Western world What we are seeing now is something that is quite new and is affecting gay men." He said that it was not clear how long LGV had been in Western Europe, there have been 24 confirmed cases in England. The HPA has been able to trace 19 of the cases. All are gay men, and 17 are also HIV positive. [Cases of LGV are now being newly reported in several areas in both the USA (California, Texas, Georgia and New York) and Europe (England, the Netherlands, France, Sweden and Germany).

Prof Courtenay Bartholomew said - A TRINIDAD man died in just six months after he was infected with the HIV/AIDS virus The professor, who is the head of the Medical Research Foundation in Port of Spain, revealed that a rare strain of HIV/AIDS which could kill in six months, regardless of anti-retroviral treatment, has already hit Trinidad and Tobago. Bartholomew disclosed that his research centre
had published a report on one of the shortest incubation periods in HIV/AIDS in medical history, namely a man who died six months after he became infected. The name, age and sexual preference of the man were not disclosed. (caribbeannews.com). It was later disclosed on a radio news broadcast. This case demonstrates that the package of HIV/AIDS can cause us to self-destruct in six months. Arising from this the question is, is this God will for our lives in terms of quality life and number of years
Life expectancy is at least 70 years of quality life
This quality life is seen in 1Pe 1:15, 16 15 but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 because it is written, "Be holy, for I am holy. As we shall see later it is not two years, three years, ten or fifteen years but at least seventy years.; If we count the risk years of the vulnerable group of 15-49 years it would at least be 21 years more starting at the high end of 49 years. My evidence for this assertion is found in Ps 90:10 The days of our lives are seventy years; And if by reason of strength they are eighty years, Yet their boast is only labor and sorrow; For it is soon cut off, and we fly away. chronological years we seem to see a pattern in the time line for man. Sex down to the bones Function of T helper cells: Antigen presenting cells (APCs) present
antigen on their Class II MHC molecules (MHC2). Helper T cells recognize these, with the help of their expression of CD4 co-receptor (CD4+) The importance of helper T cells can be seen from HIV, a virus that infects cells that are CD4+ (including helper T cells). Towards the end of an HIV infection the number of functional CD4+ T cells falls, which leads to the symptomatic stage of infection known as the acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS). There are also rare
disorders, probably genetic in etiology, that result in the absence or dysfunction of CD4+ T cells. These disorders produce similar symptoms, and many of these are fatal (see T-Lymphocytopenia).
What are T-Cells
A T-cell is a type of lymphocyte. Okay, so what's a lymphocyte Lymphocytes are a type of white blood cell. About 15 to 40 percent of your white blood cells are lymphocytes. And they are some of the most important cells in your immune systemprotecting you from viral infections; helping other cells fight bacterial and fungal infections; producing antibodies; fighting cancers; and coordinating the
activities of other cells in the immune system. HIV infection produces a mild disease that is self-limiting. This is not seen in all patients and about half remain asymptomatic during the initial period of infection. In the period immediately after
infection, virus titer rises (about 4 to 11 days after infection) and continuesThe virus disseminates to other regions including to lymphoid and nervous tissue. This is the most infectious phase of the disease.
Loss of CD4+ cells and abortion of the immune response. One reason that the immune system fails to control HIV infection is that the CD4+ T helper cells are the target of the virus. Also follicular dendritic cells can be infected with HIV and these also diminish in number over time. Moreover, dendritic cells present antigen to CD4+ cells and may bring the virus into contact with these cells at the time that they are stimulated to proliferate by antigen.
During the course of infection, there is a profound loss of the specific immune response to HIV because: Gods will is health down to the bones Pro 3:5-8 5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. 7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and depart from evil. 8 It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones. 5-6 Several specific instructions compose this general admonition to be faithful. The first is to trust in the Lord and not in oneself, because he grants success. Batah ("trust," v.5) carries the force of relying on someone for security; the confidence is to be in the Lord and not in human understanding. The call is for a trust characterized by total commitment"with all your heart" (v.5), "in all your ways" (v.6). Binah ("understanding") is now cast in a sinful mode (cf. 1:2,
6); so there is to be a difference between the binah that wisdom brings and the natural binah that undermines faith. What these beautiful expressions call for is "absolute obedience and surrender in every realm of life" (Fritsch, IBC, 4:799). When obedient faith is present, the Lord will guide the believer along life's paths in spite of difficulties and hindrances. The idea of "straight" (v.6) contrasts to the crooked and perverse ways of the wicked. (Expositor's Bible Commentary, The, Pradis CD-ROM:Proverbs) This text is written in a way that the part mentioned represents the whole. More specifically science now shows us that a major part of
the quality of life that we enjoy is based in our bones. That is the CD4 cells. The cells play a major role in our immune system; the very cells that the HIV virus attacks and mutates and later kills us. Therefore what we are being taught by Scripture is the need for behavior change towards God, self and fellow man in order to enjoy longevity.
The self driven motives of man to show his wisdom brings destruction.
Behavioural Change
There is no cure or effective vaccine for HIV infection. Efforts at prevention have focused primarily on changes in sexual behaviour such as the practice of abstinence and the use of condoms. Attempts to reduce intravenous drug use and to discourage the sharing of needles have also led to a reduction in infection rates in some areas. (Encyclopaedia Britannica 2005 Deluxe)
A case for morality legislation
Morality is a communicable attribute of God passed on to man. Morality is also a system of ethical conduct that sets standards, the breach of which may attract condemnation. The results of these transgressions normally have dire and serious social consequences to public life. Law is then established to reverse the impact of the breach. Morality is the basis of all other laws in human relations. It can be summarised in the word love, that is, the love of God.Mt 22:38-40 38 "This is the first and great commandment. 39 "And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' 40 "On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets."
Law can be defined as a system of rules, principles and regulations that require obedience and which if broken will attract punishment or sanction. Morality and law is combined in the interest of public good. The burden of proof for morality
moral values also shape attitudes towards money and property, gender roles, friendship, behaviour at work-in fact it is difficult to think of any area of our lives where morality has no applicationin any society, at any time, question relating to birth and death and to the establishing of families are regarded as morally significant. These can perhaps be regarded as core moral issues. (Elliott and Quin, pg 548)
In looking at what ought to be done or boundaries Elliot and Quin sate, Both law and morals are normative; they specify what ought to be done and aim to mark the boundaries between acceptable and unacceptable conduct. (Ibid 549)
As pointed out earlier the institutionalisation of sodomy helps to uphold a type of second degree murder As Pro. The Hon. E.R. Waldrond; CHB says, any abrogation of a right must not be capricious and must be seen unequivocally to be in the best interest of the society. (Waldrond Report, pg 48)
Gleaning more information from the same professor, he said, to make it explicit that the transmission of disease stands on a par with inflicting an injury on a person. (Waldron Report pg 42) Are we willing as a society to freely associate with human conduct that will inflict malignant injury on a person The Bible is an eternally settled book of life Psm 119:89 LAMED. Forever, O LORD, Your word is settled in heaven. Ro 15:4 For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures
might have hope.
