LONDON, 2012 -- Usain Bolt has struck yet again during an Olympic 100m finals competition to claim the gold medal while setting a new Olympic record of 9.63 seconds at the London 2012 Olympics.
Bolt has yet again proven to the world why he right fully holds the title of the world's fastest man by leading his peers to the finish line in an astonishing 9.63s.
Following bolt to victory was his fellow Jamaican teammate and training partner Yohan Blake who clocked 9.75 seconds to take the silver, with Justin Gatlin of the United States capturing bronze in 9.79 seconds.
Bolt who holds the world record mark of 9.58 seconds that he established in Berlin in 2009, lowered his Olympic mark which he held at 9.69 seconds at the 2008 Olympics.
In a field which included two other Jamaicans, three Americans, one Trinidadian and one person from the Netherlands, Usain Bolt successfully defended his last win of the 100m finals in the 2008 Olympics.
The 25-year-old who has now won his second consecutive 100m gold medal now track star Carl Lewis who did similarly in 1984 and 1988. Bolt is expected to surpass Mr. Lewis tomorrow by also claiming gold in the 200m.
After the race both Blot and Blake acknowledge their hometown Jamaica and their supports from that Caribbean nation, which celebrates it 50th year of Independence tomorrow August 6.
