Mr. Darwin Dottin, Barbados' Commissioner of Police, is now confronted with charges of professional misconduct by the Police Service Commission.
The Police Service Commission has accused Dottin of:
1. Stating a falsehood, namely that suspended officer, Sergeant Carlos Thompson, did not have use of a Government car while on suspension.
2. Repeated failures to brief Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bertie Hinds, when proceeding on vacation leave, which was contrary, which was contrary to an undertaking given to the Permanent Secretary in the office of the Attorney General.
3. Disclosing official information from discussions with Jamaican Deputy Commissioner of Police Waymore Hinds to Nation Editor Tim Slinger in an article published on March 25, 2010.
4. Requesting that the Police Service Commission discontinue disciplinary charges against Carlos Thompson despite being told the matter could not be discussed because it was sub justice.
Two of the allegations relates to the suspension of a police officer and the remaining two from the Movado/Vybz Kartel show, which saw Deputy Cop allowing Bertie Hinds allowing the show, and CoP Darwin Dottin denying the show. Prime Minister David Thompson then denied the show, after the general public's concern about Movado and Vybz Kartel.
Commissioner of Police Darwin Dottin will be fighting the charges.
Mr. Darwin Dottin enlisted in the Royal Barbados Police Force in 1971. He is an Attorney-at-Law having graduated from the University of the West Indies.
He also holds a Diploma in Applied Criminology and police Studies from the University of Cambridge. He has attended training courses at the Federal Bureau of Investigation national Academy, Police Staff College, Bramshill, England and has participated in several other professional courses in Canada, united Kingdom and the United States.
