The Church must divorce the law of the land

From a Christian perspective marriage is most importantly between a man and a woman. The church today should therefore divorce the law of the land.

Church vs the State in marriage

The Christian church and its values are having less and less influence on the society as a whole. One tenet of the Christian church and some other religions according to their holy books, which is the advice of their gods, is that marriage is between a man and a woman.

This position has been slowly dissipating in some "Christian churches" as there has been a falling away from the faith in its purest form. The church in some instances has lost its way and chosen to conform to the ways of the world.

Today, the U.S. Supreme Court moved to allow gay marriage to proceed in Alabama in the strongest signal yet that the justices are likely to rule in June that no state can restrict marriage to only heterosexual couples.

Of the nine justices, only two - conservatives Clarence Thomas and Antonin Scalia - dissented from the court's refusal to block gay weddings from starting in Alabama. Gay marriage is now legal in 37 states.

What is therefore needed at this time is for those who have remained resilient to the faith as revealed to mankind, is to use the correct definition as to what a marriage is, and divorce the Law according the land.

From a Christian perspective marriage is most importantly between a man and a woman who believes in the one God. It is the bringing together of these two physical individuals into one spiritual being in the presence and through the will of the almighty God. It therefore follows that non-Christians who do not meet this criteria, even if they be male and female should not be married by any representative of the church who is acting in accordance with the word of God.

Earlier I also mentioned that the church should divorce itself from the law of the land, because marriage has been kidnapped by the world, and two persons who indulge in "marriage" are obligated to enjoy certain privileges according to the land.

Marriage according to the bible states that the heterosexual couple should become one, and forsake even mother and father for their spouse's sake. It also states that a man should be the head of the household which therefore automatically refuses marriage between women. The law of the land, however, takes a different stance. The law of the land states that married couples allows for the way in which assets are divided and legally binding decisions for a spouse if he or she is sick in hospital for example and unable to do so.

Recently, homosexual couples have been arguing for the opportunity to be married according to the law of the land so they might be able to provide for their partner which can not be prevented unless one argues from a moral, medical, or a religious position.

This is why the church needs to remove itself from the marriage equation where the believer and the non-believer are married all the same.

The church must do the correct thing in performing marriage only between Christians in a ceremony presided over by a representative of the church, after which the couple then goes to a Judge, Notary, or Justice of the Peace for example to sign whatever piece of paper to signify they have married according to the law of the land in order to enjoy such privileges. Homosexual couple can then be "married" by anyone who the who in instructed to do so by a state, or government.
